On the 3rd of October 2010, Palembang branch PKPMI decided to have its grand annual meeting in the form of an open house celebration. The open house theme was adapted in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Orientation of the first year students and new entrees of PKPMI was held on the same day. The main purpose of the event was to have joint meeting among all the members of this branch to convey important information as well as to discuss decisions that needed to be taken by the branch for its upcoming activities.
The open house them was mainly used to initiate unity among all the students currently within the Palembang branch PKPMI, as well as to introduce all of the newbie students to their senior brothers and sisters here.
The entire event was held at the house of PKPMI members Huda Basuri, Farah Azimah and Nur Liyana. It was conducted between 8 am until 2.30 pm. The schedule of the day is listed as below:

· 7.30 am-8.00 am: Arrival of the members

· 8.00 am – 11.00 am: Grand annual meeting

· 11.00 am – 11.30 am : Lucky Draw

· 11.30 am – 12.30 pm: Lunch

· 12.30 pm – 2.30 pm: Orientation of first year students (2010 batch)

Our meeting was begun with prayers by the Secretary of our association, Nor Azlan. The moderator for the meeting was Amir Syahmi, our esteemed Naib Yang Dipertua PKPMI. All of the important committee members were in attendance, as well as most of our association members. During the meeting, several important topics were discussed such as future activities by the club and also about the restricted funding to the association. Other than that, we also discussed the allocation for accident victims and also for those members who are admitted in the hospital.
After the meeting was over, a huge lucky draw was held where over 50 prizes were given away. The prizes were mostly food stuff such as biscuits, cereal, milk bottles and tissue papers and the main prize that everyone aimed to get was the 2 bottles of Coca Cola on display =)
Shortly after, we proceeded to have lunch. Lunch consisted of tomato rice, chicken sambal, mixed vegetables, fruits and bihun soup that were prepared by a catering service.
Orientation began then with an announcement to all new students to come to the center of the house and all the seniors were welcomed to participate. This year the orientation was coordinated by 2008 batch Malaysian medical students. At the beginning of the orientation, all participants were separated into groups and each of them was given fragile crackers to be kept safely. The duty of the seniors then was to go around and smash as much crackers as they could. The team that managed to save their crackers until the end of the orientation were awarded extra marks. Each group had to prepare a name and motto.
Shortly thereafter, each of the new members were made to come to the front and introduce themselves and also take part in Poison Box game where the goal was to get the participant to involve the seniors as well. A game of Mute Charades was next on the list and we saw many different actions by the participants.
At exactly 2.30 pm, the event was brought to a close. We thank all the members who participated and made this event a memorable one for all =)
